Information for Parents –Spring Term 2020

Topic for this term:

Rio De Vida

Any further details about this term’s topic:

Happy New Year and welcome back to Reception. Our first topic this half-term is Rio de Vida

Come join the party down in Rio.  Enjoy the carnival music and perhaps make your own percussion instrument.  Use bright colours, patterns and feathers to make a carnival mask or headdress.  Meet magical creatures from Brazil’s myths and legends and look at creating our own.

Practise the skills of football, the favourite game in Brazil. Take part in some athletics!

Days which PE kit will be needed:

Please bring in PE kit as soon as possible in a labelled bag. This can be left in school until half term.  It would also be useful to leave a pair of wellies in school.

Any other ways parents can help (e.g. help needed with readers, items that can be sent in related to the topic )

If you have any information or knowledge that you could offer on our topic please get in touch.

We would appreciate your support this term by listening to your child read regularly. Book bags will be sent home on Thursdays.  Please ensure that these are returned to school on the following Monday. A book will be included,  from the stage your child is reading in school.  Please read these together encouraging pace, fluency and expression. We would be grateful if you would fill in the reading record book. Details of homework will be sent separately.

As usual, we will be going on Wild Walks on a regular basis and would appreciate help with these.  Please sign and return the form if you are able to help.

Your child will need a healthy snack of fruit or a raw vegetable at break time.

Please make sure that the appropriate school uniform and footwear is worn.

On Wednesday’s pupils in the Foundation Phase participate in Wild Walks and Theme Days so old clothing can be worn on these days

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Please look at the school website for further details and dates.
